Revd. Canon Neil Cook

Trustee

Neil is Team Rector leading the seven large parishes and 50+ traditional churches and fresh worshipping communities that make up Church Wigan. He comments:

‘I have been a priest in Wigan since 2010 and I love and respect the resilience, humour, creativity, faith and grit of the people here. Therefore it’s a privilege to serve them as a trustee of the Wigan Deanery Trust, with its vision of ‘believing in Wigan’ and working for the wellbeing and flourishing of its people and places.

‘In my current role of rector I work with many talented people in leading the mission to proclaim the good news of Christ in word and deed in every community in and around Wigan. I also get to partner with many inspirational leaders in organisations such as schools, the Church of England Diocese of Liverpool and ecumenical friends as well as Wigan Council and many local and national charities. All this gives me insight into the needs of our communities which I believe makes a useful contribution to the work of the Trust.

‘Before being ordained in the Church of England I was an event director and sector lead for an international exhibition and conference organiser. More importantly, I’m a husband and dad, with treasured links to Germany.’
